Dodge Ram Bucks!

So... Guess who hit two Oklahoma Bucks last week, on the way home from speaking at a Wild Game Feed in Fairview, Oklahoma?  Yep!  I nailed a 10ptr and a 6ptr!

But... the good news is I’d been so busy this past year all through hunting season that we were actually two deer short on what we needed for meat to make it through the year.  And, both the Oklahoma State Trooper and the County Sheriff Deputy told me I could throw them in the back and take ‘em home!  But wait, there’s more!  And, I was also able to find both of busted antlers so I’ll be able to salvage a European Mount for each!

50 Day Genesis Challenge, Day 27

“Now then, please take your gear, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me;”.  Genesis 27:3

Though I’m not a big fan of this chapter of the Bible as a whole, this verse in particular is one of my favorite in all of Scripture.

For me, without question, some of my most intimate moments with God have been in the context of enjoying His Creation while hunting.  It is in these Sanctuaries of Alpine meadows, dark timber mountainsides, sage covered Sandhills, hardwood bottomlands, plum thicket prairies, Osage orange hedgerows, windswept plains, deep cut draws, and every other place I find myself outside and in pursuit of game, that I feel God’s presence the most.  These are the places where my heart breathes deeply, my head is cleared thoroughly, and my Soul itself is restored.  It is in these places where I personally and powerfully feel the Hand of God, as I am surrounded by His handiwork.

Thank You, LORD, for the time You give, and the times You speak to me, as You surround me with the irrefutable evidence of Your Existence in Your Creation.  Please continue to speak to me in these moments and places, where I take the time, and find the space, to call on Your Name.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

50 Day Genesis Challenge, Day 9

“Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant.”  Genesis 9:3

The hunter and fisherman in me truly loves this verse.  And, without question, as I look back over my life, the time that I have been given and spent in the outdoors, in the pursuit of these moving creatures (in the context of hunting and fishing) are some of the most positive, memorable, and life-giving experiences I have ever had.  And, to literally feed my family with the wild game I (we) have pursued and that God has provided (it’s literally what we eat every day)...  I just consider it to be a tremendous honor, privilege and a blessing.  And, theologically speaking, it is also a continuation of the fulfillment of the “Noahic Covenant” (Genesis 9:1-19).

Thank you Lord, for hunting and fishing, and for the time You spend and speak with us in and through Your Creation, as we experience and enjoy all of the bounty and blessings that go along with it.

"Thank You!" From Ministry Outdoor Adventures

MOA just finished sending out all of our 2018 Donor "Thank You" letters and Giving Statements.  This is a quick "Thank You Post" to all of those who have participated in, prayed for, encouraged or supported MOA in our mission to come alongside of men of God serving in ministry positions and to help them stay "Zeroed" on Jesus.  Thank You all So Much!

Without a doubt, 2018 was our most rewarding year of ministry so far!  This past year we stepped out in faith and expanded our ministry events and opportunities as we hosted two Sporting-Clay Shoots, an Oklahoma Pastor/Sponsor Hog Hunt, a Kansas Spring Turkey Exploration Hunt, a Colorado Archery Elk Hunt (Sept), a Colorado Antlerless Firearms Elk Hunt (Nov), a Kansas Firearms Deer Hunt (Dec), and a Nebraska Muzzleloader Mule-Deer (Dec) Hunt.

- In May, we were featured on the front-page of the Wichita Eagle Beacon with both a photo and an article about Ministry Outdoor Adventures!  And, in the online version of the story there was a video link and an interview with us about MOA. In the article we were able to talk about how MOA exists to come alongside men of God serving as pastors or ministry staff in order to help them to stay ‘Zeroed’ on Jesus in pursuit of fulfilling God’s Calling on their lives.
Truly, what an awesome and inspirational year of ministry we have had!  Check out this review actually posted on our FaceBook page by one of the spouses of one of our Archery Elk Hunt participants: “‘What a blessing MOA has been to my husband and, in turn, our family and church; Truly the trip of a lifetime for him!  Not just because of the chance to shoot an elk in a beautiful setting in Colorado with wonderful hosts and amazing guides, but because of the set up for pastors to truly relax and spend extra time in guided study in God’s Word and have quiet time in which to be encouraged and renewed…’  - Lisa Peck”   In my mind, if a wife can say something like that about her husband spending time away from the family hunting, then I think we are accomplishing our mission as a ministry!  :-)

So, again, thank you so much  to each and every one of you who have participated in an MOA event, or who have blessed MOA as one of our faithful ministry supporters!  May God bless you abundantly for your generosity and faithfulness!  If we can ever do anything for you, your church, your pastor, your community or even your business or family, please do not hesitate to reach out!

If, after reading this post you feel like you would like to give in support of MOA and the mission God has called us to, we would truly be honored to have your support.  If using a personal or business check, please make the check out to Ministry Outdoor Adventures and mail it to “Ministry Outdoor Adventures, PO Box 71, Haven, KS, 67543.”  You can also give to MOA electronically via credit/debit card through PayPal by using this link:  www.paypal.me/MOAFoundation.

4th Annual Ministry Outdoor Adventures Foundation Fall Elk Hunt

The Ministry Outdoor Adventures Foundation is in a season of fundraising and preparation for our 4th Annual Fall Colorado Elk Hunt and we would like to ask for your help.  The Annual Fall Elk Hunt is truly a Premium Event, and for many men in ministry it is a "Once-In-A-Lifetime" kind of opportunity.  This Fall, we are expanding and offering both an Early-Season Archery Hunt and a Late-Season Firearm Hunt. Would you prayerfully consider being one of our sponsors as we step out in faith?

MOA exists to come alongside men of God serving as pastors or ministry staff in order to help them to stay ‘Zeroed’ on Jesus in pursuit of fulfilling God’s Calling on their lives.  With this as our primary aim, we have discovered that giving Pastors opportunities to reconnect with God, and other men of God, in the outdoors, and away from the incessant demands of their ministry, is an awesome way to do this.  And, for a truly premium event like our Colorado Elk Hunt, we really want to provide it at NO cost or, at as MINIMAL of a cost as possible.  Then, pastors joining us need only to clear their calendar, get to the Hunting Lodge with their gear, and enjoy a stress free experience of all that God has in store for them while they are there.

This year both hunts will be near Montrose, Colorado, with first-rate outfitters and professional guides.  From August 29th to September 6th we will host two pastors (from Fort Scott, Kansas) on an Archery only Elk hunt, and then from November 13th to 20th we will host three pastors (two from Salina and one from Wichita, Kansas) on a Firearms Elk hunt.  Both hunts are All-Inclusive opportunities for these men of God to grow in their Walk with Jesus, be encouraged in their Calling, and experience the presence of God on a Spiritual Retreat (led by MOA Founders, Rob Schmutz & Jeff Ochs) while taking part in a Professionally Guided Hunt.  We are prayerfully asking you to consider being one of this year’s sponsors.

If you are able to give in support of our Fall Elk Hunt, feel free to make a check out to Ministry Outdoor Adventures, with "Fall Elk Hunt" on the Memo line, and mail it to "Ministry Outdoor Adventures, c/o Rob Schmutz, PO Box 71, Haven, KS, 67543"  - or -  "Ministry Outdoor Adventures, c/o Jeff Ochs, 5730 Flagstaff, Bel Aire, KS  67220"  You can also give to MOA electronically via credit/debit card through PayPal by using this link:  www.paypal.me/MOAFoundation

Thank you so much for prayerfully considering being an MOA Fall Elk Hunt supporter!
